Watching the coverage on the strikes has been a good reminder that a lot of legacy outlets would rather grade America on a curve of guilt than just say what happened. If we hit military targets, wrecked infrastructure the regime depends on, and left them scrambling, say that. Don't turn every operation into a therapy session about whether our enemies "have a point." That doesn't mean cheerlead every war. I don't want another Iraq and I don't trust Pentagon spin any more than I trust cable news. But pretending the US getting the upper hand is some kind of embarrassing fact is its own propaganda. A country can use force, hit hard, and still be less insane than the people chanting for our decline from comfy studios and campuses. Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer America wins.
