Killing Ali Larijani, if that's confirmed, isn't some clean chess move no matter how many officials go on TV and act like it is. Israel keeps pushing this idea that taking out one more senior figure will restore deterrence, but all it seems to do is widen the war and make civilians in the region pay for it. Iran's government is repressive as hell and I won't pretend otherwise, but targeted killings by a state that already has Gaza in ruins are not about safety anymore. This is escalation dressed up as strategy, and the US needs to stop treating it like background noise.
