Maybe the update starts with admitting the biggest trust problem isn't speed, it's ideology dressed up as neutral "framing." If SPJ wants a code people outside newsrooms will respect, put viewpoint transparency in it. Say what you know, what you don't, and where your assumptions are. Reporters aren't robots. Pretending otherwise is part of why so many people tune them out.
