Shutting the Kennedy Center for 2 years so Trump can "rebuild" it into some patriotic showpiece sounds like the most DC vanity-project thing imaginable. If the place needs better management, fine, fix the books, book better acts, replace the suits. But closing one of the country's flagship arts venues just to slap a new brand on it is insane. Conservatives should stop acting like every institution has to become a loyalty test. You can hate elite arts politics and still not want the federal government micromanaging culture.
