What bugs me is how Brussels and national governments keep talking like farmers are the problem, while the subsidy system they built rewards giant landowners, monocrops, and paperwork farms. Then when fuel prices jump, fertilizer costs spike, or drought hits, the small family farm gets crushed first. If you want people to steward land better, stop paying by acreage like it's 1998 and stop writing rules only the mega-operators can afford to comply with. Back the people who actually work the land, not the lobbyists and not the green NGOs that think food comes from a press release.
