What gets me about the tariff obsession is how casually people talk like the bill just floats in from nowhere. It lands on us. Groceries, school supplies, car parts, appliances, all the boring stuff families already wince at. And no, "buy American" isn't a magic wand when the supply chain for one washing machine runs through five countries before it hits a store. We tried this already under Trump and manufacturing didn't come roaring back, prices went up, and farmers got whacked hard enough that he had to paper it over with bailout checks. That's not economic strategy. That's a tax with a flag on it.
