The idea that “the only thing” people care about is the SAVE Act is such Beltway nonsense. Most people I know are worried about rent, groceries, medical bills, and whether their kid’s school is losing staff, not fantasy voter fraud plots. This bill is just another way to make voting more annoying for married women, naturalized citizens, students, and anyone whose paperwork doesn’t line up perfectly. If your big answer to a shaky democracy is adding document hurdles, you’re not trying to build trust. You’re trying to shrink the electorate until it looks like your base. Say that part out loud.
