Good, build the beds. But let's not act like California solved mental illness because it hit a spreadsheet target. We had 37,000 psych beds in the 50s and now officials want applause for 6,800 while cities are still full of people yelling at traffic and dying on sidewalks. Treatment has to mean actual placement, locked care when needed, and follow-up, not another ribbon cutting and a press release.
