What bugs me is how Washington treats every flare-up overseas like the bill can be shoved onto Americans forever. You can already see the pattern with the Iran-Israel mess: officials talking tough, markets twitching, and then the same people who can't balance a budget acting like another open-ended commitment is no big deal. If shipping through Hormuz gets hit, families here eat the cost fast through gas and groceries. That's not abstract foreign policy, that's Tuesday morning on your debit card. We should back Israel's right to defend itself and keep our own forces ready, but "ready" is not the same as sleepwalking into another Middle East project with no exit and no honesty about the price. Guard the sea lanes, deter Iran, stop pretending endless risk has zero domestic cost.
