What gets me about the CBS mess isn't office politics, it's the slow laundering of Jan. 6 into just another partisan memory hole. Reporters spent years documenting smashed windows, cops beaten, lawmakers hiding, the fake elector scheme, the pressure campaign on state officials, all of it. Now executives act like the problem is tone, or that giving more space to people who want to blur the record is some brave correction. No. That's not balance, that's surrender to a movement that learned it can bully institutions into pretending we didn't see what we saw. If journalists who actually covered the attack feel pushed out, that's a giant warning sign. Newsrooms don't need more contrarian branding. They need a spine and a memory.
